For the one who's been influenced by me to cut down on Trans Fat (Oreos! Ritz Bits! FAST FOOD!), yet doesn't really understand exactly WHY.

Trans fat is the common name for a type of unsaturated fat with trans-isomer fatty acid(s). Trans fats may be monounsaturated or polyunsaturated.

Most trans fats consumed today are created industrially in partial hydrogenation of plant oils — a process developed in the early 1900s and first commercialized as Crisco in 1911. The goal of partial hydrogenation is to add hydrogen atoms to cis-unsaturated fats, making them more saturated. These saturated fats have a higher melting point, which makes them attractive for baking and extends their shelf-life. However, the catalyst also catalyses a side reaction that isomerizes some of the cis-unsaturated fats into trans-unsaturated fats instead of hydrogenating them completely. Another particular class of trans fats, vaccenic acid, occurs naturally in trace amounts in meat and dairy products from ruminants.

Unlike other dietary fats, trans fats are neither essential nor salubrious and, in fact, the consumption of trans fats increases one's risk of coronary heart disease by raising levels of "bad" LDL cholesterol and lowering levels of "good" HDL cholesterol. Health authorities worldwide recommend that consumption of trans fat be reduced to trace amounts. Trans fats from partially hydrogenated oils are more deleterious than naturally occurring oils.

Taken from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia :)

And according to our Health Promotion Board...

Sources of Trans Fat:
Pastries, cakes, cookies, biscuits, commercially deep-fried foods as well as products containing vegetable shortening and hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils.

TRANS FAT IS BAD!!! :P

I've been wondering...

Wondering
Wondering
Wondering.

Maybe I've found the answer. 我不配。So I guess you deserve better. I don't know if you'll ever understand. I've said it before, but there was hardly any change. If you want to think that you're always making the first move, that you're the only one hurt, then so be it. 我不配。

2 parties later in the evening, and I'm so excited! Happy Birthday to Joanne and Jas E!!!! :D :D

Thank God for friends who're gonna rush from one party to the other with me. And I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again, especially those who've been overseas! :) Yayyyy. Loves to OOTGR!

Yuan's party tomorrow. Theme: Mismatched. I've kinda already come up with an outfit, but I'm not sure if it's mismatched enough! Haha. I can't imagine what the photos will look like. :D :D

I like the poem in today's Daily Bread. Many thanks to Lychee who configured it as my 2nd homepage! I've no idea how it's done, but now whenever I open my Internet Explorer I have 2 tabs simultaneously coming up. Sweet! Anyway, here's the poem:

Start where you are in serving the Lord,
Claim His sure promise and trust in His Word;
God simply asks you to do what you can,
He’ll use your efforts to further His plan. —Anon.

God never puts you in the wrong place to serve Him.

Bleah. Daddy prefers that I run the 10k Standard Chartered Route rather than the Great Eastern Women 10k cos to him it's more worth it.

But I only get a teeshirt in SC, as compared to this in GE:

For 10km Female Runners
Exclusive adidas women's sleeveless running tee (retail price: $35)
Attractive sports bag from Great Eastern
Finisher medal
Race certificate
Race pack with sponsors goodies
Chip timing
20% off Adidas running product

SC is $42.50 after 15% discount, but GE is $45.

So after doing a cost and benefit analysis, I concluded that GE is more worth it and went to him with my results. In the end he was like, 'Up to you lor,'

Tsktsk.

BUT then. Now he feels that I should get people, or at least another person to run with me.
Aicks.

Who wants to run 10km????? (girls only though) >.<

I'm sitting in my living room now, having refrigerated HELLO PANDA chocolate biscuits for tea and doing random stuff on my laptop. (Sidenote: if you haven't tried refrigerated Hello Panda before, you SHOULD! It's nicer than normal-temperature ones!)

Last weekend was fun! On Sat, we had a practice run for 24 Aug! Ok, yes yes kinda funny/ridiculous that I'm in the 6km event but I ran 7km that day... but still!! I'm happy! Hahaha! Can't wait. I'm thinking of joining the Great Eastern Women 10K but but but... hmmmmmmmmm. Can I do it alone?? >.< The normal period for registration is ending on 16 Aug so I've gotta decide soon. Keep visiting the webpage for Idon'tknowwhat but. Haha. Seems quite tempting to give it a go. HMMMM.

Then we had lunch, and met up with the youths from HAC! They're nice! We had fun getting to know one another through Whacko, Love Thy Neighbour (one of my faves, heh) and Captain's Ball. Mixed teams was a good idea. :P Then we went to wash up while some went cycling and others went home. I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sad when I realized that I didn't bring my soap and shampoo ok! To think that I was lording it over Dee cos she didn't bring her shampoo and told her 'You can use mine, lor!'. Bleah. Just goes to show that pride comes before a fall, haha!

Vin sent us back to church in the van, which was a manual, hahahaha. So quite a few funny incidents happened that I shall not mention here. Hahahah! But he did a great job. I can't imagine driving a manual VAN. I think I would stall like, 234875 times. Haven't driven a manual since.... I passed! Goodness. :X

Ohh and yesterday, the family went to New York New York for lunch, and by golly, it was yummy!!!!! While waiting for the food to come Dee started taking photos and hohoho, a 'crazy' side of our parents were revealed! But of course, as daughters, we have to uphold their reputation (much feared by many) in church, so pictures won't be revealed. But the sister's blog does have ONE picture which shows us trying to imitate what Daddy did. HAHAHAHA! :D

Went home to read James Patterson and nap, before dinner at Lychee's sister's place! Man I love their house. So cosy and clean. :P (Ok the Hello Panda's really distracting. I keep stopping to eat. >.<) The food was fantastic! And I must say that my efforts in getting a regular dose of iron are really going well. :D

We watched the Olympics after that. I don't think I've actually sat down properly to watch the events since... 2000? So yesterday I was awestruck by the graceful gymnasts, I marvelled at how a 55kg man could lift weights totalling 153kg, and was totally captivated by the basketball match between the US and China. Somehow I found myself cheering for the Whites, rather than the Reds. What can I say? So much of our lifestyle has been influenced by the West! o.O But it was an exciting match, and initially the scores were so close! But US eventually took the lead and they won by 31 points! Wowww. Exciting. :D :D

It really is more fun having people watch and cheer with you! Heh. :)

OH OH OH! While watching the Olympics I heard a sports commentator go "OH MY WORD, ....(blahblahblah) ......."

My catchphrase is FAMOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

Then Dee and I had some pre-sleep activities, HUR HUR HUR. Which got us (or maybe more her and less me) into fits of laughter, hahaha! :P :P

One more week till school starts again and my holiday finally ends! RAWR.
Shall treasure this last week.

'Solar plexus, Instep, Nose, Groin!!'

:P :P :P Guess where that last line is from! :P
